Water Geyser Repair FAQ

This is a critical safety hazard. It occurs when the geyser's inner heating element has ruptured or corroded, allowing water to come into direct contact with the electric coil. This creates an immediate short circuit, causing the earth leakage protector or MCB fuse to trip. Do not turn it back on; call a technician immediately.
Water leakage can be from the metal connectors/flexible pipes (easily fixed by changing washers/hoses) or from the main storage tank body. If the inner steel tank has rusted and developed a hole due to hard water scale deposits, the tank itself cannot be safely repaired and the geyser should be replaced.
A magnesium anode rod is installed inside steel storage geysers. It is a "sacrificial" component that attracts rust-causing minerals in hard water, sacrificing itself so the steel tank doesn't rust. It should be checked and replaced every 2 years to double your geyser tank's life.
